Pigs on the beach

The last 3 days we have been surfing at Playa Avellanas, which is a beach a few miles south of Tamarindo.  The surf has been fun, nothing special though.

The beach however is beautiful and there is a little hotel/restaurant that is amazing!  It's called Lola's, and apparently was named after the owners recently deceased massive pet pig that would walk out to the ocean and just lay in the edge of the surf and let the waves wash him back up.  There is a new Lola now, but i never saw this little piggy playing in the ocean.

Anyway, this place is amazing, its the kind of simple little food joint that you come would travel all the way to Costa Rica for.  Its all hardwood (teak) chairs and tables which is crazy in itself, no roof, just sitting out among the palm trees.   There is nothing within sight in either direction on the beach, so its kinda like a little 'food oasis'.  The food is amazing (not cheap unfortunately), and its without a doubt the most perfect spot in the world to just chill and get some food post-surf that shell and I have ever been too.  Also, one of our favorite restaurants ever.  Its hard not to like this place.

Right now our tour group consists of us, and a group from New Jersey.  Everyone's really cool and we all get along great.

Like always,,, hoping and praying for sunshine and better surf :)
